Chaunigan Lake Lodge

Bringing your Pet to Chaunigan Lake
When it comes to dogs, we say yes, conditionally. Other pets, we're not sure (call). We understand that they are part of the family but we also have to consider other guests who might be allergic to dogs, or simply don't like them. For this reason we have to spell out the following rules and recommendations (most of which should be obvious):
1. Keep off the furniture at all times, no exceptions, and only bring them inside the lodge itself if specifically invited by the management or staff.

2. Keep away from other guests unless they approach you first and indicate their desire to meet your pet. Not everybody is comfortable around even the nicest dog!

3. Bring a portable kennel or cage for your pet to sleep in at night. This is mandatory.

4. Be aware of what your dog leaves behind. The next person to use your cabin won't want to smell a wet dog or step in its business. Keep the droppings OFF the trails, driveway and grass. There's plenty of off-trail bush around to go in!

5. There will be little effort made to find lost pets, due to the vastness of the wilderness surrounding us and the difficulty of the task. Pets should be kept on a leash at all times to ensure their safety.

6. Try to use Rustic cabin #1 or Deluxe cabin #7 for your booking with pets. This leaves the other cabins pet-free for guests with possible allergies.

7. Pets are NOT allowed to join on any trailrides for both their own safety and the safety of horses and riders. They must be left behind either supervised or contained in their kennel. Pets cannot be left behind simply on a chain unsupervised.

Guests who bring pets always claim their dog is friendly. But when dogs encounter total strangers staying in the cabin next door there is a real risk of injury to our other guests. In 2007 we had an incident where a guest was attacked causing bleeding flesh wounds. Provoked or not, this is an intolerable situation and we will hold the pet owner liable for all situations arising from the presence of their pet. As they say, once bitten, twice shy. Please keep your animal restrained ON A SHORT LEASH (10' maximum) at all times (even if it is only a toy poodle)!

A PORTABLE KENNEL OR CAGE IS A MANDATORY
ITEM FOR YOU TO BRING WITH YOU!
Pets must sleep INSIDE the kennel and not inside your vehicle or allowed to roam freely within the cabins at night while you sleep. They must remain restrained when not visually supervised. Kennels are also a good place to keep your pet while you are out on a trailride.

$$$ PET PRICE $$$
Guests who arrive with pets of any sort that are not fully disclosed and written into their booking confirmation will be charged an additional $25.00 per night or may be refused occupancy without refund and will be charged full price for their booking as stated in our terms (see our "Rates" pages). Guests who announce they're bringing their pet will be subject to approval by the lodge manager.

Pets that are prior approved are free.

What we're trying to say here is, "TELL US YOU'RE BRINGING A PET".

We have no authority over what you do while not on our property, but please try to be courteous.
